Venetian Renaissance

Venetian Renaissance began in the middle of the 14th century and had its culmination in the first half of the 15th century. The Venetian painters had a highly developed sense of colour, grandiose forms and mythological motifs. This had its basis in the good commercial relations to the East bringing Venice many magnificient richly coloured pieces of art from the East.

The Venetian school had big influence on painting in the following centuries with its mythological motifs and strong colouring.

The Venetian Renaissance includes artists working in Venice, Verona, Padua, Brescia, Mantua, Ferrara and Milan.

Among the most important painters are Titian, Bellini, Giorgione, Mantegna, Veronese and Tintoretto.
